Optimizing Mail for Exchange on my Nokia e61i
Recently I noticed that my emails in Mail for Exchange (push email) were opening very slowly. Whenever a new email was pushed on my Nokia e61i it kept saying openinnnnnng for ages. It was taking 30 to 45 seconds to open up one email forget about the rest. I kept wondering why this was happening? After doing some research I learnt some interesting facts.
- I had 900 sms message in my Sms Inbox stored on the phone memory
- Mail For Exchange works and stores its emails on phone memory.
I exported all my emails through the lovely ’sms export’ (that can be found in freeware section) on my memory card. After doing this I marked all sms’s and deleted them, voila the messaging turned back to normalcy. Another tip I will give users is to make sure you have Mail for Exxhange sync email for not more then 3 day as it takes your phone memory space, mine is setup for 1 days so it remains fast and does not crash on me at anytime. I would suggest the same for other Nokia e series devices to do the same to keep their messaging optimized.

simple thumb rule according to me, a PDA or a smartfone where u check emails can not be the replacement for a PC and/or laptops. it is a “on the go” device helping u to stay connected and hence requires a lot of “respect” in how we treat it
refreshing new emails only, getting headers only and ensuring we back up data is all simple ways of optimising performance, for example i check emails on my e61i only when i dont download it into a pst in my laptop. keeping emails on the server hampers performance of both the PDA and/or its capabilities. just thought, will share this for all those exchange users.
