Alternative for laptop Nokia e90, Nokia e61i and other Nokia devices?
I finally took the plunge traveled for the 1st time without taking the laptop and just my Nokia e61i. Interestingly, what I have been doing since the past few months is forwarding a copy of all my emails on my gmail account. Now how that helped me was that whenever I needed some critical information I accessed my gmail account using the gmail application available at www.gmail.com/app and hit “search” presto I had all the info on my fingertips. Using gmail as an online secondary storage option is very helpful and I highly recommend it alternatively I am looking into pc access option from my device. I am trying a few pc access software will report back my findings.

I don’t consider any of those devices a real replacement for a laptop! It depends what you’re trying to do but anyone remotely close to a ‘power user’ of a laptop is simply not going to be able to work with a smartphone. Of the Nokia devices, the E90 is the best, of course, due to the screen and keyboard, which are by far superior to the E61i, let alone any other phone. However, the price you pay is in weight and bulk. I have used an E61i with WLAN for e-mail/web and with Quick Office 4.5 Premier for document creation/editing. However, web browsing is problematic due to the amount of scrolling required to view many sites and, whilst simple documents can be created and edited, it’s not very productive to use a keyboard and screen of that size!
