Movamessenger for Nokia e61i, Nokia e90 and other symbian 3rd edition devices
With so many messengers in the web sphere here is another good Java IM I came across called MovaMessenger. Graphics wise this one is really good and it connects to almost all services one can think of. Initially you have to go through the typical registration procedure like any other messenger client.
The services that you can connect to is MSN, Yahoo, AIM, ICQ, Gtalk, QQ, Jabber, Gadu Gadu, Groupwise, IRC, SIMPLE, Zephyr. Most of the names I have never even heard of but this is the most extensive list of services you can connect with that I know of which is a serious plus point for this messenger. It has the typical features that of any messenger with the options to set you status to Available, Away, Busy and Invisible besides renaming, deleting, blocking and adding friends.
Settings are comprehensive as shown above.
The keys take a bit of practice to get used to as compared to other messengers. But I love the interface, the default interface is orange but the interesting part is you can changes skin colors as per your liking. I changed to red from orange as you can see above. The application has some cool animations as well. Like the chat balloon popping up while in conversation or the chat text coming up during chat if someone new has started chatting, etc. Could not get a sound alert during testing but I am pretty sure it should work.
Try it, it’s pretty neat, cool graphics, friendly interface and a wide range of service connectivity. Overall they have not done a bad job at all.
Added it in the free ware area. Enjoy!

the software seems great but I can seem to get the correct server address for AIM…how do you format the screenname so it registers properly?

how do you set it up for AIM….screenname@aim.com….does not work?

I think you need to use your actual username@aim.com to login to aim. To login to gmail I use myname@gmail.com and the password to login.

great little app, except that it logs out abruptly and takes ages to login back again,
i have configured, MSN, Yahoo and GTalk without an issue
Great UI and cool options too.
hope it remains a freeware and becomes more robust too.
